But our roots go deeper. The story began in 1935, when Dr. Russell L. Grace Sr. transformed a 500-acre estate into a peaceful refuge inspired by his wife’s dream of a beautifully landscaped haven. That dream lived on when their daughter Jean and son-in-law G.G. “Spec” Dozier opened Albany’s first motel on the grounds—giving rise to what we now know as Merry Acres Inn.

Over the decades, Merry Acres has thoughtfully evolved — staying true to its roots while embracing the comforts of today. What began as a family retreat is now a boutique-style inn where historic charm meets modern convenience, creating a timeless and welcoming experience for every guest.
