Event Center

The combined 6,800-square feet of space in the Merry Acres Event Center, and Conference Center, located on the same campus as the award winning Merry Acres Quality Inn, has been completely renovated, and has selected as its Event Coordinator Terri Underwood, a talented and accomplished professional, who is savvy at designing and implementing all types of events and occasions.

A native of Albany, Underwood previously had her own hugely popular catering firm, is known as an “Upscale Southern” cook or “Southern With A Twist,” and is equally adept at preparing foods of other regions and nationalities.

"I sort of married into the food business,” explains Underwood, “Since my husband, Tim is a trained and Certified Executive Chef, through the ACF. I have always loved planning and giving dinner parties, designing the menu, table scapes and theme, so my job as Event Coordinator at Merry Acres is a perfect fit for me."

The Event and Conference Centers offers a number of various configurations, and is so ideal for a wide range of events: wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, banquets, corporate seminars and retreats, family and class reunions, showers, birthday parties, and other celebrations.

"Based on the wide array of functions, we prepare everything from executive sandwich and deli platters, to Down Home Southern Fare, to Upscale Southern Fare."

For the latter, specific culinary delights include Underwood’s own creations such as Georgia Peach Salad, Caramelized Vidalia Onion Soup, Tomato Parmesan Bisque, Parmesan Crusted Tilapia with Mayhaw Chile’ Lime Glaze, Smoked Beef Brisket with Fig Onion Relish, and Blueberry or Chocolate Bread Pudding.

While guests may opt to use outside caterers, Underwood’s pricing is quite competitive. And, Merry Acres offers a one- stop approach for guests’ lodging, meeting, and catering needs.

"For example, a wedding party can reserve their rooms, have a Friday rehearsal dinner, and Saturday wedding reception without ever leaving the Merry Acres campus."

Underwood is excited about her new role, the creative options, and the support exuded by Merry Acres management and staff.

"We’re a family here rather than a typical chain or corporate facility. The history of hospitality at Merry Acres comes through in each event that we carry out for our clients and guests."
